Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1) (AKJV)

Marital Boundaries

Question

Are there no boundaries in your marriage relationship? If yes, what are they? How is this analogy related to our marriage relationship with Christ?

Answer

The marriage relationship is tightly bound by the Law of Love. In fact, marriage is THE relationship where the Law of Love comes into play most forcefully.  The Law of Love binds marriage partners to do nothing that would harm either one; and to do everything possible to nurture, aid, support, protect and provide for each other.  The Law of Love binds both mates to honor their vows of love, faithfulness, and mutual trust.
And it does all this without a single Biblical commandment. If each mate truly exhibits love for the other, everything good will come to the marriage, and nothing will harm it.  Each mate will love each other "as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her..."(Ephesians 5:25).

It is the same with our relationship to Christ. Because we love Him we do nothing to dishonor or hurt Him. We are faithful to all He requests of us. And we do this without any commandment. We do it naturally because of love. And love fulfills every law (Romans 13:8-10).
